Job Description:

Our client is looking to add a Custom Publishing, Sales Specialist to their team ASAP. 

This person will be responsible for negotiating and selling custom published textbook adoptions and original authored custom works from our client's publishing family. 

This person will be responsible for working closely with field reps and specialists to help sell and close custom business through personal on-campus sales calls, web conferences, and phone and email interactions with both prospects and existing customers. 

This position will require significant travel, as much as 70-80%.

Job Description:

  • This person must be able to conduct a thorough needs analysis interview
  • This person must be able to develop custom strategies and solutions that meet customer needs in a way that is consistent with our client’s business and values
  • MUST be a strong self starter that can and will take the initiative over their own success
  • Work collaboratively with teams and groups
  • Must be able to come up with pricing for each custom product
  • Must be able to create proposals
  • Spend 4 days a week on campus and many over-nights


  • Bachelor Degree
  • Minimum of 5+ years of college publishing experience
  • Demonstrates complex sales skill knowledge and ability
  • A TRUE hunter mentality
  • Demonstrates strong financial analytical skills
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Generalist candidates that can sell anything successfully and not just one discipline is ideal
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills
  • Has strong negotiating and closing skills
  • Demonstrates exceeding annual sales goals in previous position(s)
  • Experience coming up with pricing for custom products
  • Experience handling multi-million dollar accounts is a huge plus
  • Competency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Experience in a plus
  • MUST be a closer
