Job Description:

Our client is seeking a passionate and adaptable Research Data Manager for an exciting new role within the organization. The successful candidate will work on research data publishing activities across the company.

We are recruiting this position to be based out of New York City.

To support research data publishing activities across the company, the Research Data Manager will:

  • Develop, test and manage delivery of data publishing services and workflows
  • Manage Research Data Support helpdesk services including data policy implementation by company publications
  • Support journal editors and authors throughout the company to comply with research data policies, and to publish research data supporting their publications, in partnership with data repositories
  • With guidance of the Data Curation Editor, understand and help provide ways of improving processes for the creation and checking of metadata to increase discovery and reuse of research data
  • Work with the wider research data team to research, evaluate and consider publishing as peer-reviewed papers  on new developments in peer review and publishing processes for research data
  • Other editorial tasks that the Scientific Data Managing Editor may assign from time to time

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in the natural sciences, library or information sciences
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications or experience
  • Passionate about open research and open data
  • Strong proven experience in a professional editorial/publishing role, or in a research data management/publishing role at an academic institution that has included management of research data publishing
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, internal and external
  • Excellent understanding of research data metadata and data repositories, and journal research data policies
  • Experience of communicating user needs and requirements to software developers would be advantageous
